North Sydney Community Centre (affectionately known as the North Sydney Leisure Centre) has for the past 40 years provided an after school care program that is inventive, creative, active, inclusive and varied.

Operating on the principle of “free play", children choose whether they participate in structured activities or in supervised play. Choices include sports (such as handball, soccer and cricket), games (board games, puzzles etc), arts and crafts (including pottery, print making, knitting and sewing), cooking, music, dance, film, video and lots more.

The community centre has a fabulous playground with challenging equipment and what is perhaps the largest sandpit in the southern hemisphere! A quiet area provides an environment in which children can complete homework with two computers available for supervised internet research and activities such as mathletics. Year 6 children have their 'own' space.
